Every good businesswoman needs to learn how to invest her money well. It’s part of being a godly steward over her money.
But the financial world is a whole universe of its own, and you will need to spend a lot of time and effort in mastering the art of investing your money well. Even if you have a financial advisor, you will want to understand the basics of investing before you just blindly hand your hard earned money into anyone’s hands.
But here is some good news: there are hands you can confidently give your money into and ALWAYS expect a generous return on your investment.
After 22 years of being a Christian, I cannot emphasize enough how effective the Biblical principle of tithing and offering is.
What is the difference between a tithe and an offering?
Your tithe is a portion of your income that you give to God’s kingdom in gratitude for what He has done in your life. It is usually a ten percent.
An offering is a financial gift you impart to others according to what God puts in your heart at a given moment.
My husband Robert and I started to tithe when we were relatively new Christians. Back then we did not know much about what it meant, but we wanted to commit with everything we had to our Lord Jesus. We also gave money to causes we believed in and helped people out when God put a need on our hearts.
And we never stopped.
Looking back, that has been the best investment of our resources we have ever made. Even through times that should have been tough, God always provided more than enough for our family, plus He faithfully gave us seed to sow into other people’s lives.
This is an important spiritual law about finances you will not hear about in conventional investment courses:
According to 2. Corinthians 9:10 and 11, God gives seed money to the person who sows money into God’s kingdom and other people’s lives:
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.
Would you like to be enriched in all things, so that you can always have more than enough to be blessed yourself and to be a blessing to others?
Start tithing and offering from what you earn and watch God’s math at work in your life! He can do much more with your 90% than you can do with your 100%.
If you have a hard time understanding how giving away your money will increase your net worth, let me help you see it from another angle:
- Whatever resource you possess is God’s, not yours. He has given it into your hands to bless you and you will want to honor Him by being a good steward over it.
- Every other penny you don’t invest in God’s kingdom through taxes, homes, cars, clothes, food, etc. will someday be gone, worthless, rot or rust. Your tithes and offerings will have an eternal impact on earth as you invest in causes that God puts in your heart.
- Tithing and offering will improve your relationship with money by helping you get the habit of being detached from money. It will shift your focus on God and His limitless grace as your source, and liberate you from stressing and worrying about meeting your needs by your own limited efforts.
There you have it! A simple, doable and guaranteed method to invest your money successfully and open yourself up to God’s abundant blessing in everything you endeavor!
The blessing of the Lord makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it.
